Iuliana Chilea has graduated the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest with postgraduate studies in European Community law.
She has been actively involved in standardization activity for over 15 years. Since 2003 she has been addressing the intellectual property aspects of standardization. She is specialized in copyright and trademark law, and for almost 5 years she was a consultant in industrial property.
Between 2010 – 2017 she has been the director of the Standardization Directorate, and from 2017 she holds the position of General Director of ASRO.
Her main purpose is to modernize the standardization system in Romania and to make it visible and influential both nationally and at European level.
During her nearly 10 years of active participation in the technical and management structures of CEN and CENELEC, she was nominated to lead various working groups and managed to include ASRO in important projects.
At this point, it can be said that ASRO is the most influential national standardization system in south-east Europe. Also, from June 2019, she was elected to be member of the Board of Directors of CENELEC where she will try to defend the national interest within the European standardization community and, by implication and concrete actions, to help increase the influence and favorable positioning of the National Standardization System, ASRO, within these structures.
